I might be crazy or just a major msg addict but this flavor could have used more flavor even though there were 5 seasoning packets compared to the regular mi goreng flavor which has only 4. The satay flavor was sorta weak…too bad because I was so looking forward to it.

See! Bonus fried onions are the fifth seasoning (I added a little extra after I snapped this shot).

Even though this didn’t really live up to it’s satay flavor it was still mi goreng! so it was still pretty yummy. I had it with an egg as always and some green onions. It was a good lunch.

I love these noodles! Paldo has somehow captured the savory, spicy (mild really) and sour of kimchi in a bowl! Besides the oh-so delicious and addictive soup the noodles are pleasantly thin and so dang good. Very slurp friendly. I remember snacking on these noodles after school. It was a really quick and easy meal for a kid to make by oneself. I have memories of licking the seasoning with my fingers (which I still do on occasions) and carefully pouring the hot water exactly to the first groove. Mmmm…the good ole days……………….are back!

Unfortunately, I had completely forgotten how good these kimchi flavored noodles are. But those days are over! On one fateful Costco trip I finally caved and bought the whole case. For so many years I saw the 18 case pack in the instant soup isle and never had the compulsion to buy them. Maybe I took them for granted seeing as they were so accessible being sold at Costco. Well also, it’s a case of 18 bowls of the same noodle…I was afraid I was going to get sick of them – HA! I was so wrong. These noodles have been officially been bumped to my “must have at all times” list. I think I’m getting hungry looking at these pictures! I confess that I do contemplate having a second bowl after I’ve tasting the MSG goodness.

Saying the name of these noodles are enjoyable indeed. Chapagetti! Chapagetti! Mmmm…the gold packaging makes it look officially tasty. Inspired by the noodle bag I added a sprinkle of bite sized red onion and a sprinkle of frozen vegetables.

These noodles came with a packet of oil and a packet of powdered seasoning. Once the noodles and veggies were cooked and drained in went the seasoning and oil and mix mix mix! Think of Indomie Mie Goreng. The powder turned into a thick paste which made it hard to combine. The teeny oil packet was not enough. I could have added more olive oil but I didn’t.

And tada! Here is the result of all that stirring. Doesn’t look very appetizing does it? And honestly, the flavor was ok. Edible…but not as good as restaurant made Ja Jang Mien. The noodles were thick and chewy which are the textures that always agree with me. If you’re wondering what flavor this is, it’s bean paste flavor which is a bit nutty and salty. I’m happy with my decision to add the onions and frozen veggies. The onions and corn balanced this flavor out with a little sweetness. But I’d still eat Chapagetti again just not anytime soon.

Oooo….this was a weird one. I’ve never seen this particular noodle in stores personally. This was part of a noodle bundle that a friend gave me for my birthday. As I started removing the outer packaging, I noticed the words “real beef inside” printed on the corner. A real meat packet inside? Is this an import? If so, how did it get pass customs? Strange. A while back a friend introduced me to Taiwanese instant noodles with real meat which was sooo good. The Taiwanese noodles are hard to come by because customs will confiscate them because of the “real” meat factor. There’s a “seal” printed on the package that says it’s been inspected and passed by U.S. customs that I am not sure about. To continue…I peeled back the lid to find 4 goodie packets (which I have decided were too many in this case). There was the usual seasoning powder & dehyrdrated vegetables, in addition there was a packet of brown paste and a large packet of fully cooked seasoned beef. Oh…and a plastic fork. I dumped all the ingredients into the bowl, added the water and waited. After 5-7 minutes, I peeled off the lid and a surge of steam engulfed my face and the scent of Chinese beef stew filled my nose. Smelled good! Didn’t taste so good though. The soup was WAY too salty and oily. The meat looked like pet food. I took a nibble on a small piece and that was it for me. These were so bad that I could not continue.

This Myojo Chukazanmai ended up being very yummy. When I unwrapped the package, the first thing I noticed was the dried noodles. It looked like they were handmade because of their inconsistent shape. Preparation was a little different than usual: boil noodles in water, take off heat, pour noodles into bowl and add seasoning powder, oil/soy mixture and combine thoroughly. You’ll notice that the seasoning powder dissolves immediately, which is a nice attention to detail. I wish Mi Goreng seasoning powder dissolved so quickly and consistently. The soy was strong but went well with the toasty chili oil. A very nice balance flavor-wise. My soup was a little too salty….i should have added a bit more water. However, despite that minor adjustment…these noodles were great. The noodles were soft and chewy because of their unusual shape. And the simple flavors of the soup are rich and comforting. Good thing I have another pack on hand.

Mmmm. This was quite a treat. To date, this is only the second instant soba that I’ve tried and yet again, it was mighty tasty. The broth was savory with a sweet finish. I think it’s bonito based? The soba noodles tasted like…well soba noodles? Hearty, earthy and a bit grainier in texture. The tempura puffs and tempura disc of green peas and carrots (I think?) soaked up the broth so every bite bursted with flavor. Maruchan noodles bowls have not let me down to date.

I thought to myself today…what is this obsession with food pictures? Why do I like to document food through photographs? I must admit that I do scroll through my own posts and admire the pictures that I’ve taken over the past year and a half. They make me hungry. As I write this post and look at the pictures of this tasty treat I’m reminded of how freakin’ good this flavor was! I got a big whiff of shrimp when I peeled back the lid. Inside the cup, on top of the noodles are dehydrated ingredients like thinly sliced tako (octopus), cabbage, dehydrated segments of imitation crab, green onion and egg puffs. All covered with white creamy seasoning powder. In went the hot water exactly to the fill line and the 3 minute wait began. My mouth watered as I waited in anticipation. When it was finally time, I peeled back the lid and savored my first bite. The milk seafood flavor is like a super light version of clam chowder, minus the clam flavor. More like crab chowder. You get extra bursts of flavor from the little egg puffs because they soak up the soup. With all the accoutrements, this meal in a cup turned out to be a very substantial lunch. Why do the Japanese torture us like this? Why don’t they release this delicious flavor here in the states for us to enjoy? Oooooh how I yearn for more. More Milk Curry too.

There was nothing really special or unique about this flavor worth mentioning except for the noodles. Overall this flavor was ok. I was a little disappointed that it didn’t taste too much like clam soup. The texture and consistency of the noodles were satisfactory. Noodles are medium wide which still required the extra cooking time of a lot of Korean instant noodles. I wish I had some real clams or any seafood to add to the noodles. Hmmm….I think I will have to go to the market and buy a frozen bag of mixed seafood to keep in the freezer for these types of situations! A tasty clam flavored instant noodle has still yet to be discovered. The search continues.

Lucky me! that I have good friends that feed my noodle obsession. When I peruse the noodle isle, I am usually drawn to the Japanese and Korean noodles first and end up with a basket full before I even get to anything else. Fortunately for me I get all kinds of interesting noodles that I wouldn’t otherwise come upon if it weren’t for me peeps. This being one of them. I got a whole shlew of Filipino brand noodles for my birthday last year. The portion size is very snack appropriate. Included with the individually wrapped bean thread noodles were a packet of seasoning, packet of oil, dehydrated carrots and chicken bits. Well, all the ingredients went in the bowl along with hot water from my Zojirushi water dispenser, covered the bowl up and the wait began. I was pretty content with how the noodles came out, they were chewy and a little on the gelatinous side – perfect! The soup is a simple soup with a strong flavors of onion and carrots. The star was really the noodles though and wish the soup had more of a unique Filipino flavor.

I was craving something savory, sour and fast! I was hungry and knew this Tom Yum flavor would hit the spot. I peeled back the lid to find 1 seasoning packet, 1 flavoured oil packet and a small convenient plastic fork. Fun! All the seasoning went into the bowl and 1 quick push from my nifty Zojirushi hot water dispenser and I was set. The noodles were thin but were soft and springy in texture. I accidentally left the noodles covered for a little too long so that’s why the noodles were on the softer side. The tom yum flavor was on the milder side which wasn’t exactly a bad thing. Overall, this was a nice snack.
