#006 VIFON Bun Rieu Cua – Sour Crab Vermicelli
February 2nd, 2008
I was very curious to taste these noodles and wondered how the flavor of bun rieu would translate to instant form.
Very interesting to find that there were 4 seasoning packets. Soup base, fried garlic, dehydrated veggies and the big one is the oil and bits of crab meat (i think).
Can you see the lumps of crab meat?
I had some cabbage and half a tomato in the crisper. I would say that this flavor was not as delicious as the picture appears. It tastes nothing like fresh Bun Rieu, which is a Vietnamese tomato crab noodle soup. The dominant flavor of this soup was sour with a hint of shrimp. Didn’t taste like crab at all.

Observations:
Front of package: “Oriental Style Instant Vermicelli Sour Crab Soup”
Back of package: “Vermicelle Au Bouillon de crabes instantanee”
Ingredients include “shrimp” in soup base, not crab.
Picture on front shows shrimp (not crab).
The taste to me was more like crab, and overall very very tasty. Unlike other instant soups, this has seperate packages for ingredients, and real identifiable onions and meat pieces.
This is a very good quality instant soup. Reccommended for anyone who likes crab/shrimp and prefers a not-too-salty broth. (purchased 06/2010)
This is a good quality. Nice. High quality.
It may not have tasted so great, but it certainly makes me feel hungry reading about it and looking at the pictures!
