I didn’t expect this flavor to be very tasty but it turned out to be exactly that. I was pleasantly surprised by how spicy it is. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would say it’s a 3. However, I LOVE spicy foods and add spice to almost anything and everything. To get a better idea, I consider a jalepeno a 3-4 and a habenero a 10.

As I poured the noodles into my bowl, the fragrant smell of star of anise filled my nose. The noodles are thick and chewy and the soup is spicy, with a dash of garlic and little bit of sweet. It’s reminiscent of the chinese beef stew “gnau lam” but the spicy version. I guess it kind of makes sense since this is a product of China…it’s their version of Korean noodles??

I had the above ingredients left over from the night before (we had gado gado, an indonesian veggie dish) which I thought would be a great addition to the noodles. Tofu, boiled potato, hard boiled egg, cabbage, bean sprouts and of course, green onions.

The mild taste of the veggies and tofu were a great accompanimint because it balanced out the bold taste. yum yum yum.
